“That’ll Show Him": Drake Releases Timely Diss Track In Response To ‘Not Like Us’
Canadian superstar Drake clapped back at rival Kendrick Lamar yesterday with an incredibly timely diss track entitled “You’re Not Like Me.” Having faced over a year and a half of shame and public scrutiny, the rapper decided that enough was enough and put out a new single in response.
The song covers a wide range of topics, from Lamar’s record-shattering Super Bowl halftime show to Drake’s defense of his actions with Millie Bobby Brown. “Nothin’ wrong with rizzin’ up Eleven / It’s gettin’ spacey in my head like Kevin,” he raps in one particularly controversial line. Another verse finds him battling “Not Like Us”’s now-famous hook: “K-Dot, you made me look like a weenie / Certified nice guy? Nah, certified meanie!”
“Is he still worried about this? Ugh, let it go, man,” said Jaleel Chambers, a Music Production student at UCLA. “I can’t believe he thinks he can still win this fight. He’s like Rocky, but without any of the stuff that made people like Rocky.” After the allotted time for our interview, Chambers then resumed working on his own diss track aimed at Drake.
The rapper explained his thought process on a recent Instagram Live from inside his closet. “I made Hotline Bling, you know! But nobody remembers that anymore because of this big stupid-head Kendrick LAME-ar! He hurt my feelings. So now I’m going to hurt his.” Drake put his phone down and audibly sobbed for the next 30 minutes. Unbeknownst to him, the live feed was still active and continued until he received a notification from FanDuel that he lost $30 million betting on the Blue Jays.
