So You Don’t Watch Euphoria, Here’s What You Need To Know

In today’s society, being a person who has not yet watched Euphoria is as ugly as someone going to Starbucks during the boycott. To help avoid the judgment of your peers, we here at The Eggplant have compiled a list of the most important things we’ve learned thus far in season two so you can pull out these facts whenever you get trapped in a conversation about the infamous HBOMax show.

  1. Rue is a drug addict, but she does a really good job at hiding it from the people she loves

    1. Rue, played by Zendaya, is a high schooler who loves to get high and wear glitter on her face. In the first season, she overdosed after one too many pills and had to go to rehab, like everyone’s favorite comedian, John Mulaney! When she got back from rehab, she, of course, continued to take drugs, and in the second season, she’s become super skilled at hiding the effects of the drugs on her behavior. Even we as the audience can barely notice when Rue is supposed to be high! Zendaya’s almost doing TOO well at her job…

  2. Elliot is sooooo hot so he’s allowed to do whatever he wants

    1. There were a couple of new characters introduced in the second season, and the most important one was Elliot, who is played by the sex god Dominic Fike. With his bleached blonde hair and face tattoos, he’s quickly surpassed Nate as the hottest guy at Euphoria High School! His secret? Doing drugs. Elliot gets high and connects with both Rue and Jules, and even goes so far as to help Jules cheat on Rue by having sex with her. Of course, this is totally fine, because Elliot’s hotness will smooth this over in the coming episodes. Elliot also told Jules that Rue had been high for the entire time he’s known her, which is such a kind thing for him to do! He’s helping Jules out since she can’t pick up on Rue’s extremely subtle tells, despite the fact that Jules has known Rue longer.

  3. Cassie’s mom is currently trying to replace Cassie in the friend group as Nate’s lover

    1. Cassie’s mom is named Suze, and Suze is such a baddie. She drinks with high schoolers and worms her way into her two daughters’ relationships in any way she can. She helped to throw Maddy’s birthday party (by providing alcohol) and is on her way to becoming one of Maddy’s closest confidantes. All she needs is a sexy makeover and she’ll be able to strut down the halls with the girls anytime. Now that Cassie is hooking up with Nate behind Maddy’s back, this is the perfect time for Suze to claim her rightful place in the spotlight. She is so girlboss that she could even take on Cassie and Maddie in a fight for Nate’s affections, Helen of Troy style.

  4. Cal is a Gay Rights Activist

    1. Cal, aka McSteamy, aka Nate’s dad, is becoming an icon within the LGBTQ+ community. He has a tragic backstory of being trapped in a heterosexual marriage even though he was in love with his best friend. This sad story completely overshadows the fact that he frequently cheats on his wife with men and even minors. We forgive you, Cal! You were just slaying a bit too close to the sun with that one. It’s alright that you pissed on the floor and abandoned your family, because you’re finally living your truth.

  5. Nate is also a gay rights activist (like father like son)

    1. Nate, resident hottie (before Elliot came around) is also slowly coming to terms with living his truth this season! He had humble upbringings, watching his dad’s at home porn, so it’s no surprise that he’s become the person he is today. He’s scared of what other people will think if he comes out, so he is keeping himself constrained to the limits of heterosexuality for now. The audience knows the truth, of course, and hopefully, everyone in the show will soon find out and accept him for who he is. #pride

  6. McKay and Vape Girl set to replace Rue and Jules as the main couple

    1. Two fan-favorite characters from the first season were McKay, a football player, and Vape Girl, also known as BB. They had pivotal roles in the plot of the first season, so it makes perfect sense that the writers are setting up their relationship for future seasons to see what new boundaries Euphoria can push as a show. What will happen when BB is forced to choose between her vape and McKay? Will their relationship last??

  7. Due to Zendaya’s busy schedule, Mrs. Killings is slated to replace her as Rue in season three

    1. As we all know, Zendaya is a gift to this world. From her taste in fashion to her incredible acting skills, everything she touches turns to gold. After her successes with the Spiderman franchise and Euphoria, she is the number one pick for any director’s upcoming projects. She has decided to expand her acting repertoire but this means she won’t be able to shoot Euphoria next season. As devastating as this news is, Sam Levinson, the director of Euphoria, announced that they had already finished recasting her role. They needed someone loveable that you would be disappointed in for continuing to make detrimental decisions, and who is better for that than Mrs. Killings, everyone’s favorite Suwannee swiper? Even though we won’t be able to hear her saying “I love you” in person for the next few months, we’ll be able to see her saying it to Hunter Schafer on the big screen soon enough.
